“The science lessons in this school are really good as the teachers don’t just give textbooks to read from. The teacher discusses the topics so we have a better understanding.” Nelaksi, Yr 10
Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths and Music are some of the most vital tools that students can learn at school. The subjects are fantastic in their own right, but together they offer students numerous opportunities. We combine these subjects in themed weeks, as well as through individual lessons. We have repeatedly won regional rounds of the Tomorrow’s Engineers competition and the First Lego League with our Lego Mindstorm robots. The learning of a musical instrument and playing as part of a music group also develop key skills which can support students’ education and wellbeing.

We believe that our students deserve a curriculum that does not narrow their life chances or close doors in the future. For our students to compete in a global economy, we offer a broad and balanced range of subjects and guidance and support for the choices they make.
It is key that our curriculum allows our students to develop a secure knowledge base that will allow them to build a strong foundation for their future, in whatever career they aspire to.

There is no need for students to be bored over the 6 week holiday!
RFSS Staff have put together these suggested activities for all year groups.
Please feel free to dip into these and do as little or as much as you wish.
