Year 9 get their season up and running in scintillating style!
A windy Monday evening saw the Year 9 team travel to the resplendent Princethorpe, the match was played on the picturesque Quidditch, sorry Orchard pitch!
Continuing this seasons' narrative, RFSS started off slowly and struggled playing up the steep slope. They quickly found themselves 2 nil down. The inexperienced centre back pairing grew in confidence and repelled the Princethorpe advances until half time, keeping the score line within reach. RFSS were second best in all departments and needed to step up their physicality and desire in the second half in order to have any chance of mounting a comeback.
They did this and a whole lot more! 50/50 challenges were won, they played with passion and heart and the tide began to turn.
Playing downhill and with the wind at their backs second half, RFSS found their feet and put on a clinic of sublime one touch passing football. Their movement off the ball was outstanding and Princethorpe had no answer to the tsunami of RFSS attacks.
Cohen bagged himself another brace, David fired in from close range at the far post and Charlie D launched an Exocet into the top corner from 25 yards! Player of the match was Lewie who had 4 assists and 2 goals in an incredible all round performance.
The highlight of the game for the boys though was when Princethorpe generously gave the team cookies for the journey home!
Final Score: Princethorpe 2 - RFSS 6!

Thinking of going to University? Money saving expert Martin Lewis has the following advice regarding student finance:
‘My FIVE things everyone needs to know about student finance (tuition fee and living loans) for the new academic year!
blog.moneysavingexpert.com/2025/09/five-student-need-to-knows/
Top Tips:
1. The student loan price tag can be £60,000, but that’s not what you pay
2. There is an implied amount most parents are meant to contribute
3. The amount you borrow is mostly irrelevant day to day – it works more like a tax
4. Many get irate about the interest, but in reality the student loans have no ‘real’ cost to them, and some may not pay any interest at all
5. The system can and has changed
Yet do read the blog to understand them, these headlines aren't enough.’
