Learn a little more about Mandy Milsom
Mandy has been a qualified science teacher, specialising in Physics since September 2001, and has taught across four Northamptonshire and two Warwickshire schools. Mandy has taught both Physics and Chemistry to all secondary aged pupils, including those studying at A Level.
It was very clear to Mandy from the start that she felt passionately about the wellbeing of students, and realised very that her heart and expertise lay within the pastoral area of education, and she quickly moved to become a Head of Year focussing on behaviour, safeguarding and attendance. Mandy had a five year break from teaching to raise her wonderful children, returning in 2010 and picking up where she left off!
In 2018 Mandy moved from working in Northamptonshire schools, to a large Outstanding Warwickshire school where she was an Assistant Headteacher and also trained to become a Designated Teacher for children both in the care system and those who have previously been the care system.
Mandy moved to Rugby Free Secondary School during Covid Lockdown and was part of the team taking the school through the successful Ofsted inspection, and became Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for Key Stage 4 in January 2023. Mandy is now very proud to be the Designated Safeguarding Lead and Designated Teacher for RFSS and takes great pride in the incredible safeguarding culture shown by all staff at RFSS, along with the strong relationships held with outside agencies such as The Warwickshire Front Door and Warwickshire Police.
Outside of school-life Mandy is married to Greig, a PhD research chemist and they have two amazing children who they are immensely proud of, and live in a house controlled by two miniature dachshunds! Mandy likes to work hard at the gym and has been known to partake in competitions that take her to the brink of destruction!
